DOLO Kickback to the Doctors

A bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice AS Bopanna while hearing the petition filed by Federation of Medical and Sales Representatives Association of India remarked that it is a very serious matter.

The Federation claimed that around 1000 crore rupees given to the Doctors to prescribed Dolo 650 m g to patients having fever. It is widely reported that Dolo 650 mg was widely consumed during the Covid 19.

There are few issues that raised serious concern across the medical fraternity, and raised the eyebrows of Judges. These are:

1. Pricing of the drug: (650 mg pricing is beyond regulators power)
2. Very heavy kickbacks to the Doctors
3. Regulations of drug consumption
4. Issue of Tax Invasion

The bench asked the government to reply on this critical issue of public health within ten days.

Under Essential Commodity Act, 1955 the Drug Price Control order is issued by the Government.
